You can’t abandon it because someone is trying to urge you to “just have a tiny slice of cake. One little bit won’t hurt you. Have just one square of chocolate. I poured you this fresh orange juice. I got an extra donut for you – Oh are you on a diet? Well, one donut can’t do you any harm!” It will. It’ll stop the diet working completely and set you back days in your progress for what? So your “friend” can gloat about you falling off the wagon and feel smug about your lack of willpower.
